Hi neighbors! I'm Sally and I'm running for Provo City Council because I wanted to make sure every position on the ballot has well rounded, qualified candidates.
I moved with my family to Provo 8 years ago and discovered it's one of the best places on earth. I work as a Director of Finance in the tech industry, I'm a mom of two awesome girls, and I have a Bachelors degree in Government from Harvard University.
Here are few of my thoughts on things relevant to local governance. Hopefully you don't mind the cheesy stock images included
Too often we let politics replace the role of government, and we let party lines prevent us from thinking critically and seeking the best solutions. I believe that local elected officials need to be committed to strong collaboration & communication.
As a Finance Director in my professional career I've seen how policy, process & people really impact the efficiency of spending. We need our local governments to be the most efficient and responsible with budgets & funding.
The residents of Provo are so caring and generous that I was surprised to learn that we have minimal resources for unhoused populations. I've volunteered with incredible organizations like the Food & Care Coalition, Community Action Services and Tabitha's Way and they've helped me to understand the need for more opportunities for our community to serve those who are struggling with housing and food insecurity.
It turns out there are great candidates for the Provo District City Council 2 race, so I think the most important thing we can all do is vote every chance we get!
Instead of fundraising, let's rally our friends, neighbors and family to vote in all phases of the elections, including the primaries!
**Primary election is August 12th**
**General election is November 4th**
